RJC Tamil Literary Competitions ‘06

Over the past two Fridays, inter-JC Tamil literary competitions were held at our school, with the finals for debate, singing, quiz, poetry and essay being concluded.

Four junior colleges competed in the debates: Meridian Junior College, Millenia Institute, Tampines Junior College and Pioneer Junior College. The semi-finals were held on 30th March and the finals were held the following Friday,7th of april, with Meridian Junior College winning first place and Millenia Insitute in second place.

All competing schools did excellently, given the nature of the debate being an impromptu one, where all participating teams were given just 30 minutes to prepare their arguments. The debate was a huge success, thanks to the high level of enthusiasm among debaters and supporters alike.

The duet-singing competition was held on 7th April, and it had the highest number of 5 participating schools. Anglo-Chinese Junior College, Meridian Junior College and Pioneer Junior College won the top three positions respectively. The quiz and essay results will be released at a later date.

The prize-presentation will be held on 21st April, in the Performing Arts Centre, along with the finals for the dance competition.

RI and RJC would come up together for the finals, to put up a combined show. guest of honour Mr Venugopal would be invited to chair the programme.

The organizing committee would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers who came down to organize the competitions and to make it a possible event.
